Kawasaki launches Z800 in India Market; priced at Rs. 8.05 lakh

New Delhi: Japanese two-wheeler major Kawasaki on Monday expanded its range of motorcycles in India with the launch of the Z800 at Rs. 8.05 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company aims to sell around 400 completely built units (CBUs) of five models this year.
"In 2014, we expect to sell around 400 units of five CBU models in the country, including the Z800," India Kawasaki Motors deputy managing director Shigeto Nishikawa told PTI.
He added that the company also plans to sell around 1,400 units of Ninja 300 and Ninja 650 models, which are assembled in India.
The 806-cc Z800 is the company's fifth CBU model in India, with the other models being 14R, 10R, Z1000 and Ninja 1000.
Last year, the company had sold 25 units of CBUs and 1000 units of two locally-assembled CKD models in the country.
With the launch of the new model, the company now has a total of seven models in the country.
When asked about the plans to expand sales network in India, Mr Nishikawa said, "We are currently studying options for expanding dealer network. By the end of 2015, we could have around five dealers."
The company currently has two dealerships in the country - Pune and the second one in Delhi, which was inaugurated on Monday.
When asked about company's plans to assemble more bikes in India, Nishikawa said that the company would have to sell more bikes in the country to be able to do that.
Last year, Kawasaki had launched the Z1000 and the Ninja 1000 in the country priced at Rs. 12 lakh each (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company had launched Ninja ZX-14R and ZX-10R in September last year.
